J.T. Smith, a senior at Texas A&M Commerce, won the men's 60-meter dash title in a lifetime-best 6.53 seconds at the USATF Indoor Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico. Smith ascended into the top 30 all-time among collegiate indoor performers and would have set the NCAA Division 2 record had Texas A&M Commerce not made the transition to compete this season in Division 1. Smith became the first collegiate athlete to capture the national title since 2013.
